This year’s Twilight Seminar series at Mercy Hospital for Women kicks off with a fantastic presentation by Professor Nicky Leap and Dr Allan Cyna on working with women and families during pregnancy and childbirth.

Guest speakers

Professor Nicky Leap is an Adjunct Professor of Midwifery, University of Technology, Sydney and Visiting Professor of Midwifery, Kings College London. Professor Leap’s research interests include understanding the role of labour pain and midwifery continuity of care when promoting a positive experience of pregnancy, labour and birth and parenting for women and their families.

Dr Allan Cyna is a Consultant Anaesthetist in the Department of Anaesthesia at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Adelaide, South Australia. Dr Cyna’s PhD involved an investigation of hypnosis antenatal training for childbirth which was a large randomised controlled trial. He is involved in training clinical psychologists, anaesthetists and other clinicians in the use of hypnosis as an adjunct to their clinical practice.
