Mercy Mental Health Mother Baby Unit is a specialist mental health service available to women and babies up to 12 months of age in western metropolitan Melbourne. The Mother Baby Unit at Werribee is an eight bed, eight cot inpatient unit that provides the following services: • Antenatal and postnatal psychiatry • Mother baby psychiatry and infant mental health • Assessment and management of psychiatric disorders in pregnancy and post birth These services are also available in the rural shires of Loddon Campaspe, Loddon Mallee, Glenelg, Barwon and Grampians. The Mother Baby Unit is a short walk from Hoppers Crossing railway station and a bus service (route 440) stops outsideWerribee Mercy Hospital.
Visitors are welcome and are asked to inform reception or nursing staff when they arrive and leave. The Mother Baby Unit and Werribee Mercy Hospital are totally smoke free (buildings, grounds and car parks). From a baby’s birth to a patient’s final days, Werribee Mercy Hospital has played a pivotal role in the lives of thousands of Melburnians.
Mercy Hospital for Women has conducted a Victorian-first procedure using three-dimensional image technology.
Mercy Hospital for Women is excited to introduce our Maternity Group Practice (MGP) midwives. The transition to MGP commenced on 18 November 2013 and will be fully implemented in February 2014.

Mercy Health O’Connell Family Centre has been selected as a finalist in the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development’s 2013 Early Years Awards.
Mercy Hospital for Women’s Family Birth Centre will soon be implementing a model of care known as Maternity Group Practice. The Australian Nurses and Midwives Federation (ANMF) were consulted throughout the planning process and, last week, the model received an overwhelming ‘yes’ vote from midwives at Mercy Hospital for Women.
