  • The Psychiatric Triage service is the single point of entry for the Mercy Mental Health Program and is available 24 / 7 on 1300 657 259. The Psychiatric Triage service is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of experienced senior mental health clinicians who are able to provide advice, consultation, assessment and referral both within Mercy Mental Health Program and to external community service providers.

    For mental health emergencies or enquiries regarding a patient who is not currently an inpatient, contact our Triage service:

    24 / 7 Psychiatric Triage Telephone Number 1300 657 259 or faxing non-urgent referrals to 03 9216 8908 post clinical discussion with a Psychiatric Triage clinician.

    The Werribee Mercy Psychiatric Unit is a 25 bed, plus 4 short stay bed, acute inpatient unit. The catchment area for this service includes Wyndham, Hobson’s Bay and Maribyrnong, catering for persons with the 16-65 years age group.
    The experienced staff (nursing, medical and allied health) work as a team to assist patients in their recovery in the acute phase of their illness.

    Mother Baby Services is a specialist Perinatal Mental Health service component of Mercy Mental Health. This service provides perinatal mental jhealth services to women, together with their infants up to 12 months in age, in the western metropolitan and western rural shires of loddon Campaspe, Loddon Mallee, Glenelg, Barwon and Grampians.

    Mercy Mental Health’s Mobile Services team meets the needs of people who:
    • Have potential for rehabilitation and improvement of functioning with the tasks of adult daily living, and or
    • Have complex needs ( AOD, financial, physical, social, legal)
    • Have treatment resistant symptoms, andor
    • Are prone to rapid relapse
    • Have difficulty adhering to treatment
    • Socially isolated.

    The Consultation and Partnerships Team is dedicated to supporting GPs and Primary Health Care providers in delivering high quality mental health care to community based patients across their life span. The Team consists of a Psychiatrists, Senior Registrar, Psychiatric Nurses, Psychologist and Social Worker. Each member of the team is qualified to perform individual mental health assessment. We also offer a variety of clinical interventions, Psychological Treatment, Group Therapy and health promotion activities within the community. We offer shared care and have a Clozapine Program within the team.

    The Community Treatment Program (CTP) is a component of Mercy Mental Health and provides treatment and rehabilitation services to people with a serious psychiatric illness who reside in the Cities of Maribyrnong, Hobson’s Bay and Wyndham. The service operates two clinics. Saltwater Clinic is located in Footscray and services the Cities of Maribyrnong, Hobson’s Bay. Wyndham Clinic is located in Hoppers Crossing and services the City of Wyndham.

    The Community Care Units are a residential recovery and rehabilitation service of Mercy Mental Health set in tranquil gardens near the Werribee river. The service is staffed on a 24 hr basis by a multidisciplinary team and includes psychiatric nurses, occupational therapists, a social worker, doctor and psychiatrists. The facility provides treatment for 20 clients and is made up of small houses some of which are shared and some individual.

    The CATT team provides acute short term treatment, and / or advice to clients within the catchments areas that are in psychiatric crisis. They also assess clients for suitability for admission to hospital. CATT can be contacted through triage on 1300657259. Visits and assessments usually occur at home. On some occasions, review can occur at the Wyndam clinic or Saltwater clinic. If a clinic review is required, the time and place can be discussed with the CATT team contactable through the triage number documented above.
