      • Going Home
  • You may choose to go home 6 hours after the birth of your baby if you are both well and/or anytime up to your planned discharge time and date. After you leave the hospital one of our Mercy @ Home midwives will visit you and your baby in your home within 48 hours of discharge. This visit is to check your recovery and to answer any questions you have regarding yourself and your baby.

Once discharged from the Mercy @ Home service your care will be provided by your local Maternal and Child Health Nurse. *Privately booked women will be referred directly to their Maternal and Child Health Nurse. Your care after discharge is also provided by your GP or Private Obstetrician.

Please arrange for your partner/family to be at the hospital by 9am so you are organised to leave by 10am on the day of your discharge.

Please ensure that you have an approved infant care restraint and that it has been correctly fitted to you vehicle. Your car seat needs to be fitted prior to the birth of your baby as the hospital is unable to assist with the fitting of infant care restraints.
