• Mercy Health Graduate Program – Midwifery

    • Mercy Health offers a 52 week Graduate Midwifery Program at Werribee Mercy Hospital, Werribee and Mercy Hospital for Women, Heidelberg. This program is designed to support Bachelor of Midwifery Double Degree Nursing/ Midwifery and Postgraduate Diploma of Midwifery Graduates

      Aim of Program:

      Graduate midwives are an integral part of Mercy Health's commitment to develop our future midwifery workforce and as such we welcome graduates to join our team to provide compassionate and responsive care to people in need. Our Graduate Midwife Program is designed to support graduates making the transition from student to registered midwife within a supportive and welcoming environment. The program aims to promote educational opportunities to graduates as they consolidate their theoretical and clinical skills. This is a structured program with a comprehensive orientation, paid professional development days, and debriefing sessions which are supported by the learning team, resource nurses, midwives and clinical educators.

      Overview of Program:

      On successful completion of the program Graduates will be presented with a certificate of completion

      All graduates are contracted to work 64 hours (0.8 EFT) per fortnight for a fixed term of 52 weeks commencing in January - February 2018.  

      5 weeks of paid annual leave will be taken throughout the graduate year, as per the Nurses and Midwives Enterprise Agreement.

      Following completion of the 12 month Graduate Program, further opportunities exist for a 12 month supported consolidation program in speciality areas.

      We also conduct and offer Post Graduate programs with a range of affiliated universities

      · Clinical support is provided by the Learning Team and preceptors in the clinical areas.

      Application Process:

      1. 1.  Bachelor of Midwifery and Double Degree Nursing/Midwifery applicants must register with the PMCV Computer Match and rank Mercy Health in their preferences.  For further information log onto: www.pmcv.com.au
      2. 2.  Post Graduate Diploma of Midwifery: Applications directly to Mercy Health as per instructions below
         
        3.  All applications must include the following document
      3. o Mercy Health Application for Employment Form
        o Letter of application stating preferred hospital location, areas of clinical interest, preferred rotations, rationale for choice and future career plans
        o Curriculum Vitae, relevant experience and clinical rotations
        o Three (3) referees (at least 2 need to be clinical referees) including their professional title, place of work and both email and phone contact details
        o Certified copy of academic transcripts to date (including 'key to results')
        o Two (2) recent certified, acute clinical appraisals
        A passport size photograph
