Mercy Health Graduate Program – Nursing / Mental Health

Mercy Health offers a 52 week Graduate Nursing and Mental Health Program.

Aim of Program:

Graduate nurses are an integral part of Mercy Health's commitment to develop our future nursing workforce and as such we welcome graduates to join our team to provide compassionate and responsive care to people in need. Our Graduate Nurse Program is designed to support graduates making the transition from student to registered nurse within a supportive and welcoming environment. The program aims to promote educational opportunities to graduates as they consolidate their theoretical and clinical skills. This is a structured program with a comprehensive orientation, paid professional development days, and debriefing sessions which are supported by the learning team, resource nurses and clinical nurse educators.

Overview of Program:

Graduates are contracted to work 0.8 EFT for 52 weeks commencing in January - February 2018

The program offers 2 x 6 month rotations for Nursing - Mental Health Nursing Graduates

Clinical rotation offered may include:

  •    - Inpatient Mental Health Unit

  •    - Emergency Department

  •    - Medical/Surgical Ward

Post completion of the graduate program opportunities exist for a further 12 month consolidation program in speciality areas.

We also conduct and offer Post Graduate programs with a range of affiliated universities

Graduate Support and Development

· Hospital and program orientation

· Supernumerary time at commencement of each rotation

· Clinical support is provided by the learning team and preceptors in the clinical areas.

· 11 paid Study Days

  1. 1.  Applicants must register with the PMCV Computer Match and rank Mercy Health in their preferences.  For further information log onto:
    2.  All applications must include the following documents
    •      o Mercy Health Application for Employment Form
           o Letter of application stating preferred hospital location, areas of clinical interest, preferred rotations, rationale for choice and future career plans
           o Curriculum Vitae, including any relevant experience and past clinical rotations
           o Three (3) referees (a minimum of 2 clinical referees and 1 work referee) including their professional title, place of work and both email and phone contact details
           o Certified copy of academic transcripts to date (including 'key to results')
           o Two (2) recent certified, acute clinical appraisals
           o A passport size photograph 
  2. 3.  Applications for all campuses must be forwarded to:

Please note: Successful applicants are required to provide a current police record check and working with children check prior to commencement.
