Course Information
Werribee Mercy Hospital is looking to recruit suitably qualified nurses who wish to complete the Graduate Certificate in Emergency Nursing held in conjunction with the University of Melbourne. The program commences in February of each year and runs for 52 weeks. The course at Werribee Mercy offers:

• High clinical teacher to student ratio
• Access to paid tertiary study leave and exam leave
• Rotation to all areas of the ED; cubicles, resuscitation bays , short stay unit and triage
• Paid, supernumerary
• Airway management day spent in Anaesthetics

Department Information

The current ED was opened in June 2005 and offers students extensive hands on experience. Currently there are approximately 36,000 patient presentations per year, with that number expected to rise to 50,000 over the coming years. Both adult and paediatric patients are cared for in the ED, with approximately one quarter of the presentations being paediatric. The ED also works closely with our mental health colleagues, allied health staff and emergency services.

A new Emergency Department Short Stay Unit was opened in April 2011. It comprises of paediatric and adult beds.
