Gender equality pivotal to Mercy Health care

Mercy Health has long been committed to gender equality across its services located in Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia and the Australian Capital Territory. In fact, the health provider has a proven track record, receiving an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation six years running.

Mercy Health Chief Executive Officer Adjunct Professor Stephen Cornelissen said gender equality was a basic human right that should be a pivotal part of any organisation.

"I would like to emphasise Mercy Health's continued commitment to gender and remuneration equality for both men and women in the workplace,'' Adj Prof Cornelissen said.

Mercy Health employes 5,467 people, 85.8 per cent of which are women and 14.2 per cent are men. Mercy Health recently lodged its annual report with the Workplace Gender Equality Agency under requirements set out in the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012
