Angela Marchant and Emma Mole are the new Service Managers at Mercy Place Parkville and Mercy Place Shepparton.
The two women both have their own stories to tell but come into their new roles with the same aim, to improve the quality of care for residents.
After three decades working in health care across two continents, Mrs Marchant believes there is no task beneath her.
Born and raised in Rugby, England, Mercy Place Shepparton’s new Service Manager started as a personal care assistant at the age of 16. She moved to Australia with her family in 2007.
It is this experience that has ingrained a philosophy, which she believes will inspire her staff to provide the best possible care to the residents at the Shepparton home.
“I wouldn’t ask anyone to do anything I wouldn’t do myself,” Mrs Marchant said. “I’m a very hands-on person. I’m not afraid to come out and pull my sleeves up when it is needed, you only earn respect when you can show you can do this.
If I’ve got a problem I want to meet it head on.”
The mother of two said she hoped that under her stewardship Mercy Place Shepparton would be known as the best aged care home in the Goulburn Valley in the next few years.
