Unique Projects

Since 2006 Mercy Health Foundation has built relationships with individuals, families and other organisations to secure philanthropic support and donations to foster the constant improvement of care. The Foundation offers scholarships to Mercy Health employees and supports unique endeavours, such as the Mercy Health Breastmilk Bank, to improve healthcare in our community.

Mercy Health Foundation invests in unique projects that are identified and developed to meet the special needs of the community. Once completed, these projects and programs foster learning and promote excellence in care.

Mercy Health Breastmilk Bank

On 22 February 2011 Mercy Health launched Victoria’s first breastmilk bank at Mercy Hospital for Women. The Mercy Health Breastmilk Bank was created to provide breastmilk for sick and premature babies whose mothers cannot supply sufficient milk.

Mercy Health Breastmilk Bank will:
• Pasteurise the milk to reduce risk of infection
• Freeze and store donated breastmilk
• Provide the breastmilk to sick and premature babies at Mercy Hospital for Women
