Mental Health Residential Care

  • The Mercy Health Community Care Units provide residence and treatment for local clients. Set in tranquil gardens near the Werribee river, the units are made up of small houses, some of which are shared and some individual.
This residential recovery and rehabilitation service caters for a maximum of 20 people. It is staffed 24 hours a day by a team of psychiatric nurses, occupational therapists, a social worker, doctor and psychiatrists.
We provide clients who need psychosocial rehabilitation with strategies and interventions to support their wellbeing.
  • This includes:

  • • Education on illness management, treatment progress, medication management and the side effects of medication
    • Basic life skills training
    • Health and fitness, diet, sleep and exercise
    • Drug and alcohol management
    • Lifestyle programs
    • Financial counselling
    • Community integration and involvement with self-help or chronic illness support groups
  • Families and carers are encouraged to participate in an individual’s recovery process. Information on their health management, treatment progress, medication and associated side effects can be made available.

Families are encouraged to visit and weekend leave is available. However, mid-week leave is discouraged (other than in exceptional circumstances) to give people the best chance to benefit from the program.
