  • Perinatal Mental Health

    We support women and their families through:

    Inpatient and Outpatient Consultation Service for mental health assessments pre-conception, in pregnancy, in the postpartum and for women attending the gynae-oncology services

    Specific liaison services are provided to the Perinatal Medicine, Transitions, Young Mums and Nangnok Baban Murrup Antenatal Clinics which include access to clinical psychology and psychiatry. We also consult to Paediatrics and the NICU.

    Education – We provide teaching to medical students on rotation at St Vincents Hospital, Psychiatry registrars and placements for Clinical Psychology students. We also provide professional development in perinatal mental health for midwives, GPs and Obstetricians. We have developed resources for health professionals in Perinatal Mental Health 

    Research - At Mercy Hospital for Women's perinatal mental health service we aim to better understand mental health across the perinatal period. Our current research project is the Mercy Pregnancy Emotional Wellbeing Study (MPEWS)
