Booking & Pregnancy Care Options

  • Every pregnancy and birth is different. To help meet your individual needs, Mercy Hospital for Women offers a broad range of care options for pregnancy and birth. This means that in conjunction with your midwife or doctor you are able to choose the type of care that suits you best. You can choose between shared care with your GP, midwifery clinic, obstetric care, team midwifery or our Maternity Group Practice.

    Care options at Mercy Hospital for Women are tailored to your specific medical requirements and personal preferences. Please consider the following options and discuss which type of care best suits your needs when you attend your first appointment.

          Specialist Obstetric Care 
      Team Maternity Care 
      Maternity Group Practice in the Family Birth Centre 
      Midwives Clinic 
      Shared Care 

    Making a booking as a public patient

    You will need to see your GP to discuss your pregnancy and which care options may best suit you. To book into Mercy Hospital for Women public Maternity Care please ask your GP to fax a completed referral form to 03 8458 4205. 

    NB: If you know which model of care you would like please ask your GP to note this on your referral (e.g. Share Care, Team Midwifery, Maternity Group Practice, Midwives Clinic or requires Specialist Obstetric Care).                       
    Once we have received the referral we will notify you of the outcome within 10 working days.
