• This type of care is for women with pregnancy complications or complex medical conditions.

If you have pregnancy complications or pre-existing medical conditions, you may need to attend the Outpatients Department at Mercy Hospital for Women for all of your antenatal appointments where you will be cared for by our team of obstetricians, other doctors and midwives. You will be allocated weekday appointments between 8.30am and 12 noon. Please allow up to 3 hours for your appointment.

  • While in labour you will be cared for by our midwives, obstetricians and other doctors who are available 24 hours a day.

  • After birth you will be moved to our 5th floor postnatal (after birth) wards to be cared for by our midwives and after discharge you will receive a visit from one of our home visiting midwives. You can expect to stay in hospital for two nights after a normal birth and three if you require a caesarean.
