Your stay in the Maternity Unit

  • During your labour and birth, you will stay in one of our birthing rooms. We encourage family centred care so partners are welcome to stay while you are accommodated in the birthing room, although children cannot stay. After the birth of your baby, you will be transferred to a postnatal room where your partner is encouraged to stay, learning and sharing the care of your baby with you.

If you require a caesarean section, your postnatal stay will be in a single bed in a postnatal room where your partner is encouraged to stay, learning and sharing the care of your baby with you. Partners are not able to stay overnight in the shared bed wards.
