CHC40108 Certificate IV in Aged Care

Course outline

The CHC40108 Certificate IV in Aged Care is for people already employed in the aged care industry who would like to further develop teir knowledge and skills to improve the delivery of care, undertake work in team leadership roles and assist with medications in aged care homes.

Course structure

The course consists of 15 units of competency: 10 core units and 5 elective units. Elective units should be chosen to reflect the work role and required duties.

Course delivery and duration

The course will be delivered through face to face delivery or blended delivery.  Learners who are new to the industry and are not currently working in this capacity will be required to participate in a 160 hour work placement in an aged care setting. Distance learning opportunities may be available to those learners who have difficulties in attending structured learning due to their location.


To gain entry into CHC40108 Certificate IV in Aged Care a candidate must be recognised as competent through a recognised training program or recognition process against six core units from CHC30212 Certificate III in Aged Care (or equivalent).  Those candidates who do not have the pre requisites for CHC40108 Certificate IV in Aged Care Work will be required to complete these units on a fee-for-service basis before enrolling in the CHC40108 Certificate IV Aged Care Work course.  Please contact us for information relating to the prerequisite units.
