Ageing in place

Our homes offer you the security and comfort of ‘ageing in place’. This means that no matter what your care needs are now or in future, you can continue to live at our homes.

Allied health

Local allied health therapists can provide physiotherapy, podiatry, speech therapy and nutritional advice in our home if you need them as part of a high-care plan. Giving you a choice of flexible and individualised care options, these extra services can help you maintain your general health and wellbeing.

If you are generally well and would like to use these services, or have higher care needs and seek extra allied health support, you can arrange for your preferred therapists to visit on a fee-for-service basis.  In many instances our allied health therapists may be able to see you privately. To book allied health services, please discuss your needs with the Clinical Team Leaders or Clinical Manager to discuss.

Audiology

Access to audiology therapies can be arranged at a number of our homes in order to treat hearing, balance and other related disorders.

Café and kiosks

Selected homes include a café and kiosk with a fresh food and hold/cold drink menu for you and your guests to enjoy.

Club rooms

Private access to a roof top clubroom is available to extra service and Independent Living Residents at select homes.

Dental

Access to dental services can be arranged for those with emergency or non-emergency dental issues.

Dietician

Our nutritionally-balanced menu is developed with advice from a dietician and is changed seasonally. All meals are freshly cooked daily and we are happy to meet special dietary needs you may have, whether for religious, cultural, ethical or medical reasons.

Hair and beauty salon

All homes have a visiting hairdresser that utilises the dedicated hairdressers space/salon to keep you looking and feeling good.

Home Care

For those in Independent Living Units, home care services are available for those who need additional care to maintain their independence.

Leisure and lifestyle

Music appreciation, exercise and art classes are among a wide range of leisure and lifestyle activities available for you to enjoy.  Some activities may incur a charge. Our diversional therapy team will ensure that wherever possible you are able to pursue your interests and are empowered to continue actively participating in life. We invite you to enjoy a range of social, cultural and physical activities and to suggest any we do not currently offer.

Library services

Enjoy convenient access to the home’s established collection of books, reading materials and games.

Ophthalmology

Ophthalmology services are available to residents seeking treatment of eye and vision related disorders.

Pain management

For residents requiring pain management from ongoing illnesses or disorders, various professional services are available to help ease symptoms and improve quality of life.

Palliative care

We provide specialist care and support for those with a terminal illness.  Palliative care teams work together with family and carers to provide physical, spiritual, emotional and social support.

Pastoral care

Our Pastoral Care Associate offers you and your loved ones spiritual and emotional support whenever needed. They will coordinate any prayer groups and Church services, including regular Mass, sacramental care and denominational services.

Pets

The benefits of pet therapy are known to inspire greater physical, cognitive and emotional well-being.  Resident and visiting pets are a vital part of our aged care home communities.  If you are considering moving in to a Mercy Health aged care home, contact the Service Manager to discuss bringing your pet with you.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapist services are available for residents experiencing physical and movement impairment or rehabilitation.

Local allied health therapists can provide physiotherapy, in our homes if you need it as part of a high-care plan.   If you are generally well and would like to use these services, or have higher care needs and seek extra allied health support, you can arrange for your preferred therapists to visit on a fee-for-service basis.  In many instances our allied health therapists may be able to see you privately. Podiatry

We offer you access to comprehensive podiatry services for those experiencing medical conditions affecting the foot, ankle and structures of the leg. Local allied health therapists can provide podiatry in our homes if you need it as part of a high-care plan.   If you are generally well and would like to use these services, or have higher care needs and seek extra allied health support, you can arrange for your preferred therapists to visit on a fee-for-service basis.  In many instances our allied health therapists may be able to see you privately. To book allied health services, please discuss your needs with the Clinical Team Leaders or Clinical Manager to discuss.

Respite care

Mercy Health can provide support to your family and other primary carers who need additional assistance or simply a break and time to themselves. All our aged care residences offer respite care in the form of short-term accommodation. Please contact the Service Manager.

Religious services

Visiting Chaplains are available on call for pastoral ministry and specific religious rituals. Pastoral care from a religious representative from your own faith tradition can also be arranged.

Speech pathology

Professional speech pathology services are available to assess, diagnose and treat residents with communication or swallowing disorders. Local allied health therapists can provide speech pathology services in our homes if you need it as part of a high-care plan.   If you are generally well and would like to use these services, or have higher care needs and seek extra allied health support, you can arrange for your preferred therapists to visit on a fee-for-service basis.  In many instances our allied health therapists may be able to see you privately. Volunteer services

Mercy Health aged care home residents benefit from the skills our volunteers bring to the home. Whether it be driving a bus, sharing gardening skills, reading a book or newspaper to a resident, volunteering as much or as little as you want can be an enriching experience.   

If you would like to contribute to your community by volunteering, please contact the Lifestyle and Volunteer Coordinator at the Mercy Health aged care home near you.  As with everyone who works within our homes, volunteers are required to complete a police check and attend a Mercy Health induction.
