Allied Health Week at Mercy Care Centre Young

Mercy Care Centre Young celebrated Allied Health Week on Monday 13 November 2017. Mercy Care Centre Young employs 27 staff in its Allied Health team across seven specialities.
These specialties are:

  • aged care assessment
  • physiotherapy
  • occupational therapy
  • speech pathology
  • social work
  • transitional aged care
  • diversional therapy.

The Allied Health teams provide vital free health services to the Hilltops area. Speciality clinical areas include paediatrics, aged care, outpatient services, nursing home care, the Hennessy Recreational Therapy Centre, community visits, acute and subacute inpatients and palliative care.

Allied Health team leader Clare Findlay said the team is a dynamic and dedicated group of clinicians.

“Our team includes new graduates through to clinicians with more than 30 years’ experience”, Ms Findlay said.

“It is great to be able to celebrate their hard work and achievements as part of Allied Health Week.”

The Allied Health Week celebration included a lunch and cake, a presentation of quality improvement projects, a guest speaker and the presentation of clinician awards. Meredith Swaby, Director of Allied Health for Mercy Health, travelled from Melbourne to present on innovation and distribute awards.

Mercy Care Centre Young Operations Manager/Director of Nursing, Mary-Lou Cusack said the Allied Health team supports the Hilltops community to stay healthy, active and independent.

“Young and surrounding districts are lucky to have such a large and diverse group of Allied Health professionals providing quality care,” Ms Cusack said.
