New Werribee Mercy Hospital Emergency Department enters final stage of delivery

Mercy Health recently welcomed the Minister for Health Infrastructure, Melissa Horne MP, and the Member for Werribee, John Lister MP, to tour the new Werribee Mercy Hospital Emergency Department today and see first-hand the progress being made..

The new Emergency Department is being delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority and Mercy Health and has now entered its final stage of delivery with practical completion achieved and the builder, BESIX Watpac now vacating the site.  Since construction began in mid-2024, the team has done an incredible job bringing the new ED to life.

Mercy Health Group Chief Executive Officer Angela Nolan said she was proud of what has been achieved and acknowledged the care taken in the design of the new Emergency Department, especially the dedicated childrens’ area.

“The new Emergency Department represents an important investment in emergency care for our community, enabling us to treat an additional 25,000 patients each year,” Ms Nolan said.
“As we prepare to open this year, our focus is on building an outstanding team, ready to provide high quality emergency care that is grounded in compassion, dignity and service and reflects our ongoing commitment to the people who rely on us.”

Behind the scenes, teams continue to work hard preparing for training, orientation and scenario‑based sessions with clinical teams, ensuring the Emergency Department is ready to deliver exceptional care from day one.
