Mercy Health has welcomed the Victorian Government’s announcement of significant new funding to support the opening of the Werribee Mercy Hospital Emergency Department later this year.

The Premier of Victoria has confirmed that $95 million will be allocated in the 2026–27 Victorian Budget (see media release here).
This commitment represents a major milestone as preparations continue for the new emergency department to open its doors.
Teams across Werribee Mercy Hospital, particularly those working in emergency care and project delivery, have been making significant progress to ensure the facility is ready to meet the needs of the growing Wyndham community.
At full capacity, the new emergency department will:

  • Double the current emergency care capacity
  • Increase the number of patient treatment spaces
  • Include dedicated areas for paediatric care and adult mental health care

These improvements will significantly strengthen the hospital’s ability to respond to current and future demand and enhance the experience of patients and families, enabling more people in the Wyndham community to access timely, high‑quality emergency care closer to home.
