 John Corcoran 

John has a Bachelor of Laws (Monash) and Bachelor of Economics (Monash) as well as being an Accredited Specialist in Business Law (Law Institute of Victoria).

John's areas of practice are commercial property, retirement villages and aged care, business law and securities law. John is a former executive partner of Russell Kennedy, and now serves as Chairman and partner.

John is a recipient of the Centenary Medal for services to Australian society and to the law, which include his services as a Legal Practitioners' Liability Committee member, and on the Legal Service Board between 2005 and 2010, and again in 2013. John has been a member of the Mercy Health Board since 2011 and was also Law Council of Australia President in 2009, Law Institute of Victoria President from 2001 to 2002, (made an Honorary Life Member in 2011) and a London Board Member of the International Bar Association, between 2009 and 2012.

John was named in Best Lawyers 2013 Lawyer of the Year Award in the category of Retirement Villages and Senior Living Law.

  • All aspects of commercial property including sales and acquisitions of land, subdivisions, unit development, "off the plan" sales and infrastructure agreements
  • General commercial matters including buying and selling businesses, advising ongoing businesses in all aspects of business law and commercial contracts
  • Securities law including preparation of debentures, loan agreements and other security documents and advice to major trading banks in relation to enforcement of securities
