Consumer Advisory Bodies (known as CABs) provide valuable feedback to governing bodies (our Board) about the quality of care and services they deliver. They help build a person-centred culture committed to quality aged care (© Commonwealth of Australia – the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, 2019).
Joining a CAB as a resident/client member or a representative is a great way to contribute to improving the experiences of those we care for, enhancing quality and safety and connecting with others.
At Mercy Health every resident and their nominated representative, as well as eligible Home Care clients are able to apply to join their local CAB. Once a year in October we run an expression of interest campaign across our homes and home care.
Our CABs in Residential Aged Care are based at the home and we have one overarching CAB for Home Care. To find out if your home currently has a CAB in place please speak with your Service Manager or Lifestyle Coordinator.
Minutes from each CAB are collated and reported to our Community Advisory Committee, Healthy Ageing Leadership and our Board.
